Your Lifetime Is the Time That Matters

Life itself does not run out when an individual dies—it continues for everyone else. What is limited is your own lifetime, and every second of it is passing.

That simple distinction puts everyday choices into perspective. Being alive, breathing, and having a functioning body are valuable things that can easily be taken for granted. Life can also change or end unexpectedly, which makes deliberately damaging your health or wasting your time difficult to justify.

The message centers on three ideas:

  • Protect your body. Avoid destructive habits such as drug abuse and smoking.
  • Recognize your own value. Other people’s negative judgments do not determine your worth.
  • Remember that your time is finite. Being alive means you still have possibilities that those who have died no longer have.

The point is not to fear death, but to appreciate being alive. Time keeps moving whether you are here or not—your lifetime does not last forever.
